This is not just another photography trip.

It's a fully immersive, expertly led experience designed to help you grow as a photographer in real time — with hands-on guidance, in-depth teaching, and creative support every step of the way. You'll return with a strong set of Dutch spring images, and the confidence to find great shots anywhere you travel next.

The aim is simple: photographs that feel unmistakably Dutch — not generic travel shots you could have taken anywhere.

Arrival

Settle in & meet the group

Settle into the Golden Tulip Leiden Centre and meet the group over welcome evening drinks. A relaxed, friendly start, with time to get comfortable before the first shoot day.

Day one

Leiden: canals, culture & evening atmosphere

Photograph daily life, architecture, reflections and details, with an optional evening session for moody canal scenes and an introduction to night photography.

Focus: composition confidence, observation, storytelling, and optional low-light camera control.

Kasteel Keukenhof and the tulip fields near Lisse

Day two

The Kasteel & tulip fields

Visit the Keukenhof Kasteel area and the nearby tulip fields for colour, leading lines and pattern — with a relaxed editing session to polish your best work.

Focus: colour and vibrance, tidy backgrounds, purposeful composition, and optional editing.

Day three

Volendam & Zaanse Schans windmills at sunset

A morning in Volendam for architecture and cultural details, then on to the Zaanse Schans windmills for a sunset shoot timed for golden hour.

Focus: iconic Dutch heritage, subject choice, and golden-hour photography with calm, confident technique.

Itinerary is subject to slight change depending on weather and availability.

Your Photography Coach — Head Tutor

Stephen is iPhotography's Head Tutor and the friendly face behind countless photo walks across the UK and workshops further afield, including the USA. An award-winning portrait, street & landscape photographer who's been behind the camera for two decades, he's spent years leading photographers on location — and it's where he's happiest. He brings the same warmth, patience and structure that runs through every iPhotography course to each trip he leads, specialising in outdoor photography and post-processing (and he's been featured by Adobe & Skylum along the way). Expect plenty of encouragement and that "lightbulb moment" when it all clicks.

Local Travel Guide & Model

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Christina lives on the cusp of the tulip fields with her partner and four wonderfully quirky cats. Her love for photography began with simple curiosity and grew into a powerful creative outlet. She's as comfortable in front of the camera as behind it, and will happily be your model on this workshop — she looks forward to meeting you with a camera, a smile, and possibly a very typical Dutch stroopwafel.

Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) is the nearest airport, with a short train onward to Leiden Centraal.

Your questions, answered.

I'm a beginner — is this trip for me?+

We assume a small amount of camera knowledge and basic photography skills. It doesn't matter what grade of camera you have — all you need is at least a basic DSLR or mirrorless camera and a passion for photography. We'll show you how to make the most of your kit to capture images you're proud of.

What do I need to bring with me?+

Bring all your general camera gear, a tripod, and any lens filters you have. If you'd like to buy filters beforehand, we'd recommend a polariser, a neutral density and a graduated neutral density filter to fit your most-used lens. Pack at least three batteries (and the charger) and plenty of memory cards. A full packing list is sent to guests a few weeks before we meet.

Will we be shooting on location?+

Yes — there's no other way (unless you count AI!). Every day has a different focus, designed to gradually build your camera understanding and confidence. We'll be outdoors hunting down the best shots across the northern Netherlands — cityscapes, portraits, architecture and street photography.

What's the difference between this and a photo walk?+

A photo walk is a casual outing. The F/65 Group Workshop is a fully immersive, expertly led experience — hands-on guidance, in-depth teaching and creative support, with direct coaching, personalised feedback and practical demonstrations. It's also about the community you build with a supportive group of like-minded photographers.

Can I just book on for a single workshop?+

The workshop runs as one multi-day experience — each day builds on the last to grow your skill, confidence and creativity. To get the full benefit, and to stay in step with the group, all guests join for the whole workshop. It's the connections, the progress and the journey together that make it memorable.

Can I attend without booking the hotel?+

To keep the group close-knit and maintain the supportive, social feel that's at the heart of the F/65 Group experience, all guests stay at the designated hotel as part of the package. Having everyone in one place builds friendships, keeps each day running smoothly, and creates the relaxed atmosphere — from shared breakfasts to evening chats — that makes the workshop so special.

Will I have to share a room?+

No. Each participant has their own private room at the hotel. You'll only share if you choose to bring a travel companion, such as a friend or partner.

Can I bring a partner or friend?+

Yes. Non-photography companions are welcome if they're sharing with a photographer. While you're out shooting, they'll find plenty of iconic landmarks and venues to visit — we'll provide a sightseeing list ahead of time. They're warmly invited to the welcome reception and the farewell meal. The companion fee covers the hotel stay, breakfast, welcome reception and farewell meal. Please book your companion upfront on your selected trip.

Can I extend my stay or upgrade my room?+

Yes, but only if available. To adjust or upgrade your room or the length of your stay, please contact us — don't contact the hotel directly, as that affects the group booking.

What is your cancellation policy?+

The cost of the trip is non-refundable once booked and paid. If iPhotography cancels the trip (for example, due to unforeseen circumstances or the minimum group size not being met), you'll receive a refund. We keep our groups small and spots are limited, so bookings are final — but if life gets in the way, we'll do our best to resell your spot, and if we can, we'll refund your payment (minus an admin fee).

Anything else I should consider?+

We strongly recommend a good travel and medical insurance policy to cover trip cancellation and any emergency medical care while travelling abroad. V-Learn Ltd t/a iPhotography cannot be held responsible for any accident, loss or injury incurred during the trip.
